Instruments
of
Antiquity...
![]() Built just for you, and at a price that will surprise you. Our years of experience building period instruments has had a limited range of clients until now, and we proudly offer those who love period music, from beginner to professional performer, a new option when looking for tools to make music. From beginners simple system flutes to Gothic bray harps, we offer a range of instruments that is among the most comprehensive in the field. And the options and custom opportunities are bounded only by your imagination Instruments of Antiquity is not in the business of producing manufactured standard musical machines, we use a process of creative collaboration with the client to design and produce one of a kind instruments. Our clients crave individuality as much as quality in their instruments, and we provide both. So no matter what your need... A reproduction of an ancient musical instrument for performance, movie or play... An example for your classroom... Or just a beautiful daily player that is as unique and interesting as you are... We will work with you to produce just what you've been dreaming of. As you look through this website, remember that each instrument pictured here is a part of a process of exploration, created with information both tried and true and newly learned, and that as more is discovered from historical artifacts both well known and newly discovered our designs change and grow. These are examples along the path, and each client brings new avenues of exploration, new side roads to wander, new ideas to incorporate. In the end, our instruments are conceived in the musicians imagination, and made material through the work of a team centered around the client. We pride ourselves in delivering dreams. Of course, we stand behind our work. We are confident that once we put our work into your hands, it will become a cherished favorite, with a place of honor in the home and on the road, and we expect that when cared for properly our instruments will last generations. Many of the instruments you see pictured on this site are from our own personal collection. Since we don't focus our musical efforts so much on public performance as on period musical education, all of these instruments have seen years of lectures, demonstrations, classes from grade school to college, and use and abuse that no professional musician would allow their instrument to experience, and they are still all beautiful players and wonderful to look at and hold and experience, so we know we can build a lasting heirloom for you. We look forward to working with you to bring your vision to life, so take the first step and contact us. You will not be sorry you did. Chris Nogy,
